The clover along the woodchuck fence is coming along well, both last year’s and this year’s.

Inside the oblong outline of a brick I removed to use in the border of the new stone dust path — I had been thinking of using the brick as an entrance marker here, and so had dropped it in situ a few days ago — we see the stunted, twisted, pale and chlorophyl-less clover seedlings that were unlucky enough to have sprouted where I dropped that brick.

The sudden re-exposure to rain, air, and light must seem to these seedlings a miracle indeed!
