This is yesterday’s box. It’s posted today, out of order, because I went out and planted the rosa rugosa immediately instead of blogging! I also planted the bleeding hearts:

Hole big enough not to crowd or squeeze roots, packed compost with no air gaps, clay-y cap, flood with water. Repeat.

The bleeding hearts are in a little flower alcove near the honeysuckle. They will get sun, but because of the honeysuckle, the sun will be partial. It will be pleasant to sit in the chair in the late afternoon and survey them. Apparently, bleeding hearts attract hummingbids, as do the columbines and bee balm that I have already. This is another example of making good decisions without knowing what I am doing. Perhaps if functions are sufficiently stacked in a system this is a natural outcome.
